Family law attorney Edmund (Ted) Wegener has been serving residents of Louisiana and members of the United States Armed Forces and as legal counsel for over 35 years. Mr. Wegener was admitted to the Louisiana State Bar in 1970. He then joined the U.S. Naval Reserve, in which he ultimately rose to the rank of captain before retiring after twenty five years of service. His active duty time included service aboard the USS Providence (CLG-6) as a line officer which included a combat deployment to Vietnam in 1972. During his reserve career, he served as a both a line officer and as a Judge Advocate General (JAG) officer.

Attorney Wegener is board certified in family law by the Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization and is nationally recognized as a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. He has received an AV rating under Martindale Hubbell’s Peer Review Rating™ process.*

Mr. Wegener’s practice involves all facets of domestic law including divorce, child custody, child support, spousal support, relocation issues, property division matters, injunctive relief, trials, and appeals, and also includes the specialized knowledge and training to handle the unique military aspects of divorce and retirement issues.

In addition to his  practice in family law, and his activities as a consultant and court-qualified expert witness in military retirement partitioning in divorce, Mr. Wegener teaches continuing legal education courses on military aspects of divorce at numerous venues including Louisiana State University Law School as well as presenting United States Coast Guard training seminars.

Divorce and family law are areas of law that involve serious long term economic and emotional risks to the individuals involved.
